Default Surf and Bay report

I drove down early Saturday morning and started out front by a jetty around 4:30. I tried an SP a needlefish and bucktail without any interest despite nice weather and great conditions. Around 5:30 I was throwing a bone Hydro and as soon as I thought of moving to the back for Bluefish I had a tap, then 2 more non committed bumps shortly after. Tried a suggo but got no response and as the sun came up I lost confidence and bailed. Was going to try again this morning but it was nasty out, so I tried some casting for Blues around Barnegat bay. Had a couple swirls on a pencil but didn't hookup until I tried a Bomber and got 2 gators around 8lbs. Not much catching but it was good to see some Blues around this year and put some time in around doing an engine repair that is keeping me from Fluke fishing for now.

Good friend of mine had a real good (big) bluefish bite in Barnegat Inlet today on the outgoing tide. Said SPs & 5" Tsunami Twitchbaits were all they wanted. He later hit the beach and caught more blues on clams and bunker chunks.

Good news, thanks Skolman. I only caught 2 but I had blood splatter on my clothes like a crime scene.

Good stuff.

Any current info on blues from shore?

Hope they are still lurking

I caught nothing in 4 of 7 trips to Manasquan Inlet this year. Caught, tagged and released 30”, 30” and 28” bluefish and a 19” fluke with a metal in the other 3 trips. Post pics.

Thanks Gerry. The effort is the reward. They are still around but I didn't get a touch this morning. Maybe due to downward trending water temps?
