Thumbs up Raritan river 4/26/19:

Putting in a lot of time on the river, unfortunately with little to show for my efforts. Hit Duke Island Park, Robert St, Somerville and Manville. Hooked a SMB in Manville and in true river bass attack mode it jumped twice and shook the hook.
Visibility was a bit better today and the schmutz level way was down as well.
Calling for 40 mph winds on Saturday so that will spike the amount of schmutz in the water. After fishing stopped by The Sporting Life, they have herring !!
Speaking of herring the folks over at Rutgers Marine and Coastal Sciences pulled the net in Piscataway the other day and got a whopping 22 river herring in one pull !! If anyone wants to join me I will be filing the permits to stock Brown trout in the lower Raritan river. We can raise some funds and purchase Brown Trout from Vern at the Musky fish hatchery in Asbury.

What's the purpose of the brown trout? If it's to establish a sea-run population, I can assure you that the quantity of trout required will NOT be inexpensive.
