We had a good solid week or so. Then ice was gone, but there was fishable ice last weekend by Sunday. That will be gone now. It's been a strange season.

I just shelled out about $200 switching from tip-ups to jigging rod based tip-downs and Hi-Tech ice rigs because I like the idea of fighting fish on a rod, instead of hauling them in by hand. Hopefully we will get another cold snap and I will get to use them this year. If not, I'm sure next year will be good. I don't recall more than 2 bad years in a row in my lifetime.

Good sale on heritage laker tip ups going down on the erie-based Internet fishing gear supplier... this season is shot. Good opportunity to reload for next year if needed!

Best tip ups around, I have had mine 30 years and they are still like brand new!

Well different strokes for different folks.

Personally was ice fishing every weekend from mid December, with only 2 weekends out of state.

2 inches is fishable for some and I do understand reluctance to get on ice if it is that thin. But sometimes itch gets the best of me and when you have to go you go. On a side note you wont ever catch me doing that alone anymore. Tried that 2 years ago and that was enough for me.
