Default Roosevelt Park Lake

Because of the bad condition of all the rivers and streams, ONCE AGAIN, I decided to check out this water compond. Yucks, Yucks and more Yucks. I feel sorry for anyone who only has this place to fish. I can't imagine it in the summer months. All the water from the streets and parking lots flow directly into it. I hope no one takes any fish home to eat out of this place. And they put expensive trout in this sh++hole? I wonder if they ever test the water for contaminants before they stock. Probably don't want to see the results! Seems a better place for warmwater species. It appears to be 2'-3' foot deep with a mud bottom.
No hits on lures from anything. Caught four 2"-3" sunfish on butterworms in two hours of fishing.

The only thing that lake is good for is feeding ducks, its one off the biggest wasted stocked lakes in the state.

If you live close it's a good place to take little kids for sunfish action. Other then that I've pulled out 1 nice sized trout, seen a couple more caught and a huge turtle floats around.

In the spring it's actually a decent spot for bass. Nothing real big, but good numbers of fish. But you make a good point about stocking trout in it; the pond is filthy and the trout have zero chance of survival in summer.

I live near there, walk my dog there often, Though I almost never fish it.
NOt too into pond fishing, lots of people do in the spring, mostly older men who live nearby, there are a lot of fish pulled out of there in the spring, and a lot of bass when the water warms up, not too big, but it a place people can go close to home, who may not have time or money to go other places.

If you fished there and got nothing,, it was just a bad day or wrong bait/lure.

it is dug out in the middle 8 or ten feet, channels not too far off the rails. They drained it not too many years ago and did lots of work making it deeper.

On good days its actually pretty nice, though it gets somewhat green in summer. After lots of rain it can be discusting, garbage that washes in, not to mention fishing worm boxes from fisherman to lazy or stupid to clean up after themselves.

As for eating the fish, not in there long enough to get too contaminated, but then I wouldn't eat any stocked/farm raised fish anyhow.

I know this is an old post, but I went there for the first time the other day. First cast got a bite but lost it. Wound up catching one a bit later on a weightless Texas rigged senko. Not too big but I didn’t have much time to fish so I was happy. Spoke to someone who said they test the water for contamination so you can keep the fish? Couldn’t find any info about it but he said he fishes there a lot.
Pretty crowded not too many people fishing though. I’ll be back for sure.
