Default Some Catches from the Past Week

Just catching up from the last week. The boys and I got out a little for some catfish action. We did good with the bullheads on one particular pond (see double catch in the net). We caught a few nice yellow bullheads and a few brown bullheads.

Got a few nice channel cats and one nice flathead last weekend (my 9 year old's first flathead, it was about 9 lb!). He told me that he dreamed about flatheads that night.

We went to one pond this past Friday 7/24: 7 bluegill, 2 pumpkinseed, 1 LMB, 1 black crappie + 2 more crappie lost at the last second as we were bringing them in. I miss crappie fishing, it's something we did for most of the winter. I love that slow jig and that subtle bump and pull when they're on.

Last night we tried a spot up near Stockton, messing around with small plastics: 6 green sunnies, 2 smallies (see photo), 1 rock bass and a creek chub. The smallies were unexpected and a pretty special surprise!

The rock bass have a special place in our hearts because when we fly fish a local creek, we sometimes get pretty good sized ones on our flies. We've always had a love for the rock bass!

Thanks for looking and tight lines!

Great report, all smiles. Solid action, quite the variety and what's best is spending time with your boys on the water. Really good stuff. Bet your boy will be dreaming a lot more about Flatheads, real nice fish. A little later in the season and that fish would have been probably easily 12-13 lbs.

Now that is a cool report right there.. solid fish glad to see you guys are on the kittys. The only one left for you guys to get is a white cat. Crappie fishing is always fun and they are good eating as well and the fresh water groupers (aka) rock bass are something i caught a lot on the Rockaway river when i was a kid they love small mr twister grubs..
