Absolutely blows me away how ****ed up people are dumping shit into our waterways. How much does it cost to dispose of a tire legally? I'm sure areas where dumping occurs are somewhat concentrated, why not post trail cams, catch a few, fine them $10,000 and give these *******s something to think about before continuing to pollute our native resources.

Great job by all the volunteers who devote their time cleaning up messes made by scumbags. A HUGE thank you and kudos to each and every one of you!

Lightbulb Re: Rockaway river:

Most of the tires are about 30 to 40 years old.

And that was from the "clean" section. If they'd floated from Blackwell Street to where they started, they'd still be there.

A lot of those tires are old and came from upstream via floods. Years ago there was a junk yard right along the river near Lakeland bus depot. Plus Dover is a freakin pig sty, and all that shit ends up in the river. Including the occasional DB
