Thumbs up Raritan river 5/8/23:

Fished up around Duke Island Park for trout, did ok. The water just fell below 1000 CFS at Manville so wading was "interesting" to say the least. By 11 am the tree "schmutz" was so bad I threw in the towel. Got one up on the "shale flats" in honor of Craig's dad Mr. Norris.

I was there the day before you; too bad that our paths didn't cross. I started at the falls and worked my way down to the parking lot. Didn't catch crap using a spinner or a fake garden worm. You're right indeed that the wading was interesting! The current was pretty strong but the water clarity was ideal. By the way, I had to deal with kids throwing rocks into the water around me while I was fishing below the falls. I saw a couple other fishermen in the area who, from what I saw, weren't catching anything either.

Earlier in the day I hit the Musky downstream from Bloomsbury and got 11 with the same lures (all small rainbows). The water there was also a little high and fast, but that definitely beats being too low.
