White perch and white suckers
Went fishing in 65 degree Carnegie Lake this evening in the rain. Parking lot was nearly filled when I arrived. 6 foreigners were in my spot. Tried a new spot. Found lots of corn 🌽 on the bottom of the lake in very shallow water. Didn’t chum. Caught 3 white perch to 9” with a 1/32 oz twister tail jig on 4 lb test line. Gave away two to the intruders in my spot. Made a new rig for brother John’s braided line outfit. Tied a small swivel to the end of the line with a double Palomar knot. Then tied 12 lb test fluorocarbon to the other end of the swivel with an 8 wrap improved clinch knot. Tied 3 hooks to the leader with two double overhand knots and another 8 wrap improved clinch knot. Caught two white suckers to 18” with corn 🌽 bait on the rig. Gave one to the intruders in my spot. On my last cast of the day, I caught and released a channel catfish with my homemade corn meal bait on a #8 red treble hook and 12 lb test mono.
