Spooled by a bluegill
Haven't posted in awhile but was able to get out 3 times the past week
last Sunday took my 11 yo daughter to ireland brook for her first outing of the year and after some snags and tough time casting in the woods, we moved to a spot on laurence brook where she caught her first Perch right after asking for 1 more cast before leaving. Friday morning i Blew off work and went back to Ireland brook and laded 3 stockies and lost 2 more because i kept leaving my net on the bank And tonight my 11 yo joined me again, this time we went to manalapan lake, where she could cast without tree's. I set up a couple of bait rods - 1 for carp and one with a splitshot and worm , that i left the bail open with a bite alarm on it. With it being windy, the line must have blown off the alarm and after undoing a tangle for my daughter i notice teh bait rod moving - at first i thought it was wind but then noticed a few coils of line at the first guide. I grabbed the line - retied it to the spool and proceeded to reel in a bluegill abut the size of my palm. Caught a perch and another tiny bluegill. |
