Baby Al took the big fish EARLY lead (he always does then fades). ALS Mako caught a nice 6+#er then Shrimpman caught one almost as big. The current was pushing the baits towards the stern and that's where they bit best. NoodleRod was midships and I looked up towards him. He was just standing there with his pole in his hand with the tip bouncing hard. I yelled, You gonna reel that fish in or what? and he retorted "yeah, after it stops taking drag".
Fish around the same size as ALS's . Measured on digital later had Tommy's fish an ounce or two heavier. Shorts and Keepers intermittently all over the boat. Brisket !!! Sleeping Beauty??? Me and Scooter Petey and Scooter Baccala, Me and Scooter |

We made a couple more moves, Kenny trying different spots but the deeper spots were where the fish were biting.
GOOD bottom ALL day long!!! I love fishing south! We finished up on a slow note but we were ready by then. Kenny will sail tomorrow then close up for awhile. Baby Al taking a nap Baby Al and Scooter Same sans sunglasses Me and Scooter |

Congrats to ALS Mako and Tommy on their pool winners, you guys did great. Was a little jealous watchng ALS Mako bailing what seemed like a lot of fish from the port corner, and Tommy with his drag pulling beast
. I was pleased by the bottom that we had even up front, but just couldn't get the bite working, 'cept for the bergals, of which were chewing really hard early. Had a blast meeting Tautog 1 (Steve) and Kimmy (both beat me at poker and blackjack), delicious BBQ from Smokehouse Steve, shrimp fishing lessons from the other Steve, Boston Pete feeding me some nice stogies, Lab (who also beat me in blackjack) with all the laughs and for letting me school him in geology (even though not my subject); he is right, we did have shade for 1 drop with a North wind and hard north current, but that got straightened out shortly after , but wouldn't let me live it down. Thanks to everyone who showed and to all the support during my recent life event. You guys make me laugh and its a privelege to have such great friends sharing our passion on the sea... |

Very long day...but a lot of fun. Thanks for your efforts in setting the trip up lab. Yes I only had three keepers, but I would have had my limit if I wasn't using a saftey pin for a hook! My limit fish saw the boat, took a dive and straightend my hook! I will NEVER buy laser sharp eagle claws again! In fact throwing away the ones I have left! The shrimp worked well today, as along with my 3 (4) keepers I had 6 or 7 shorts. Not a great day, but it looked like I had more action then others.
Smokey, thanks for the doggie bag . Alan I appologize in advance if certain pictures are posted, if they are not just forget I said anything . It was a pleasure fishing with all of you today, and look forward to next season. Capt Kenny and Chris, thanks for another GREAT season, see you in April! Time for a well deserver HOT shower and some sleep. SMS
