Pike are slamming the big gold rat-l-trap this morning. They are inhaling the lure. Caught 4 so far biggest is 6 lbs 3 oz. Going to check another spot now.

The grandmother of the Pike in my stretch kept looking at my lures today but would not commit. Shes BIG, 41-43 inches possibly. Anyway, landed 4 Pike this morning with the biggest being 31 inches and weighing 6lbs 3 oz. Heres some pics. Back at tomorrow after work if the rain holds off. Right now its MILLER TIME!!!

LOL, Im sure guys are out there as I type trying to get that MONSTER!!! If the storms dont raise the river too much. I will catch that Monster if its needed. Pike went nuts today for the big gold RAT-L-TRAP. I was leery of throwing this multi hook lure in the cover, but it turned out to be a good choice. All PIKE hit the lure as it was descending, on the jig!!!

Sunday was all set to have my first pike-a-thon day of the year figuring the warm air would have them active. Headed upstream to lower water and -shockingly - found the parking area empty. This was strange. Anyhow I quickly got ready throwing on the waders and headed off down a trail along the river. Within a few minutes I realized why nobody was there: mosquitoes - swarms of them. With all the stagnant puddles and nearby swamps near the river, it was a great breeding spot for them. Anyhow, I lasted for about 20 minutes before running out of there. Went up to the Chatham-Berkeley Hgts areas and found less mosquitoes but no pike. A few sunnies and bass was about it. River is probably going to be a mess again this so no piking for me until the skeeters are gone and the river is low.
