My wife and I bugged out of middletown today for the comforts of my brother in laws in upstate NY. On tuesday morning I got down to the shore to search for storm birds (had a distant tropic bird, and many parasitic jaegers off of the belford ferry), I was AMAZED to see the Elaine B sitting out in the Bay as he must have rode out the storm (a tip of the hat to that brave captain). My heart goes out to all of those who have lost their boats and their livlihood.
sincerely, flyersnfluke

Need a licensed contractor for repairs to my mom (75 years old) house in Bayville NJ
Need gas furnace, hot water Heater, some Sheetrock and insulation removal, possible flooring work, the water went in the crawl space and seemed to just possibly touch the floor. The mechanicals are in a small room outside the house, would like them raised for obvious reasons. Also need a little Sheetrock and insulation, light carpentry in the garage. Thanks Bob 732-330. 2910.

Here is a good link for aerial view of the coast. Type in Mantalokin NJ in the search box and you can see the new inlet. The bridge goes right into water. That is crazy:

Was down in Neptune yesterday with my daughter and her boyfriend Adam, who's parents have a home by the Shark River Yacht Club, to help with the clean up. What a mess there.
The Tidal Surge wiped out the entire first floor of their home. Looks like they had around 3 feet of water in it. Very sad to see all the people displaced from their homes and all their belongings on the curb On the bright side, people from all over their community that lived on higher ground where there to lend a helping hand with clean up and others driving around in their cars offering food, drink, a place to stay or hot shower. Very heart warming to see and you can just imgaine how deeply this touched Adam's parents. Not sure they have fully digested this yet as they were in good spirits, but in the coming days the reality of this all is going to sink in. My heartfelt prayers go out to them and everyone struggling through the aftermath of this storm.

I recognize that I am in a completely frivolous industry but if anyone has any light fixtures, wall lights, table lamps, etc that they value that were damaged in the storm I will make time for myself or one of my guys to help you if you are an NJF member. We are a for the trade metal and lighting restoration company but I'll gladly make an exception for NJF people.
On Monday I'm receiving a shipment of 10 brass floor lamps that were in 4 feet of water at a warehouse in Long Island City. We're taking them apart, polishing and lacquering them, and rewiring them before they get shipped out to Salt Lake City. The designer is in a tizzy over it. I think maybe he hasn't put the news on to see what's going on around here.... |
