![]() I'm still in the camp of pushing the opener up and extending the fall while NOT giving up those cherished days.
We've caught keeper sized fluke on diamond jigs into November MANY years (last year who knows b/c we only got out a few times after Sandy) and I've personally caught fluke to 4# on the beach, FISHING PLUGS, for bass, up to Halloween. Anybody that thinks that fluke are automatically gone after labor day is bordering on the clueluess. The last 2 years we've had some crazy weather in September and those tropical-"like" systems usually get them up and out of here. I've personally had some GREAT days fishing for fluke in October and late September, fishing on the pipes, mouths of inlets, and in on the beach during the migration - especially for bigger fish. ...When we have stable weather into October, and the bait starts moving down the beach, the migrating fluke stick around and grab the scraps of the stuff the bluefish feed on in the early fall. |
