I'm definitely in for a Meet & Greet. Since I am new to the whole Freshwater fishing scene, it would be great to meet some of you around my area (Morris County) and plan some trips together..

Always great meeting someone with a boat willing to take out a few others for a great day of fishing

“The Kids”, as I refer to the part timers / summer help, mostly in or just out of college, here @ The Fish Lab have a “Barbie Rod Challenge” going. Don’t know the specifics, only that a 23” striper & 15” flike have been landed. Casual & fun.

I'm in. I have no problem starring my fishing info with a like group, only problem with the message board is the stalkers that only take info and don't give back. Face to face group would solve that problem. 👍😆

M&G is just fine, when I mentioned tournaments, I was thinking of more of like Chris mentioned, so let's not get over our head's here. Next, to my knowledge (I def. could be wrong) but I dont think ANY club has a tourny. during the Spawn. Listen, I'm all for fishing for the weekend (or for a day) with a bunch of people, camping, cooking, and drinking, and getting to meet new people, and learn more about the sport I love, and maybe a $10.00 per guy pool for the largest fish.

.

All members of the Official NJFishing.com Fishing Club will be required to wear the official hat so members can recognize each other out on the water or in the supermarket.

Now we need a gang sign we can throw up to rival fishing clubs.

I really like the idea, the club could have regularly scheduled 'meetings' (i.e. fishing/drinking meetings) and rotate the location among different lakes/rivers to account for how spread out the 'membership' is likely to be distributed across the state. I know njfishing has occasional informal meet and greets but they are few and far between. With a regular meeting schedule it would be easier for everyone to plan around and if you couldnt make it one month no big deal there will be another the next month. The meetings could incorporate informal 'tournaments' where those interested chip into a pot at beginning of the 'meeting' and the biggest fish caught takes that months pot.

I am a lawyer myself and can't imagine any sort of liability issues so long as things are kept informal. I also will offer my professional services pro bono to defend the njfishing social club against any frivolous lawsuits;-)

More clubs ? There are at least 12 Trout Unlimited clubs in NJ, then you have the Round Valley Trout Assoc., Knee Deep Club, Muskies Inc. just to name a few. Then all the B.A.S.S. clubs in NJ. Then all the outdoors clubs, kayak clubs, boating clubs, etc. BUT an NJF is still a good idea.

I have no idea how I'd fit MORE of you whack job fishing fanatics into my life! About the club and possible meet ups... Can we do them at midnight? That works best for me hahaha... Jk.

The reality is, I've met some pretty good people in the last 5 yrs through this site--some of which I speak with numerous times a week. I'm all for a club of sorts. Nothing overly official. Save that for the ice fishing contest when the smack talking and alcohol induced measurement tirades spew from our pie holes! Lol.
