Stripers were present in Nova Scotian waters in the sixties . My buddy & I would catch quite a few in the St Mary's river on rebel plugs & buck tails!
Many residents during this time frame considered them a less than desireable game fish much like pollock. In those days in the Maritimes the Salmon , trout , cod ,Gt tuna & more desireable ground fish reigned supreme ! Subsaquent years during the latter seventies the Striper became less abundant , I'm not sure why , but they had a respectable presence for several years in the rivers areound Cape St Mary NS waters . |
