![]() Give me a break. Nicest weather we have had in weeks and they opened the flood gates. Of course everyone was going to go out, and of course there were going to be crowds. Look at Cali and Florida. If they shut us back down, it will only happen again when they reopen us. This disease is not going to just go away, but it can be weened out. It will take time, but you can't keep people locked up forever. Have to hope everyone does their part.

![]() I visited three county parks yesterday in Monmouth County:
Bayshore: @ 7:10 am . the fishing pier was still closed but fishing on the beach is permitted. I saw 5-6 anglers on the beach probably 60 plus feet apart. Holmdel Park: @ 1 pm. just drove through with my spouse. lots of people but it's pretty spacious so no issues with social distancing that we observed. Thompson Park: @2 pm, another drive trough. more crowded but again no obvious issues.lots of people safely enjoying the day.

![]() I remember not long ago the poster who touted fishing on a beautiful day with no concerns about the virus. Think his post said something along the lines of all data pointing to the virus subsiding, 400 cases and going down, down down every day based on published reports which was a lie and if you discount the number of deaths in the nursing home in Washington nationwide deaths will top out at less than 200 from all other parts of the country. A month later we're at 67,000 confirmed deaths in the US with I'm sure many more unreported and 1.2 confirmed cases.
In one month when our typical Memorial Day Holiday officially opens the summer months for shore communities, if there's not a quick testing protocol, vaccination or treatment in place prepare yourself for the inevitable and mark this post. Hordes of people are going to descend on shore communities and if you think clubs and beaches are going to maintain social order and teenagers will be wearing masks in 80 degree weather I don't see it happening. It didn't happen during spring break, it won't happen up and down the coast. We're going to witness chaos like Michigan just did with protests and civil disobedience. I believe it's a good thing opening communities back up to see what reactions it prompts from public behavior in preparation for summer months but if enforcement of safety precautions doesn't exist this is going to turn into a shit storm and the damage done to shore communities, economies in general and essentially everything will be unprecedented. Now roll that scenario forward to Thanksgiving and imagine being quarantined for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. I'll post pictures later today of what's happening in the area I live with people ignoring safety precautions and challenge anyone to question the safety risks it causes throwing caution to the wind. Like I said I'd love to see 60,000 people in a park if space accommodated them based on distancing measures but when less than 50% are without masks it creates a major health risk we don't need right now. |
