Yes, this virus does hit some people hard especially the elderly with pre existing conditions. However if we were to shut down the country for every special group of 400-500 that died, we are never going to survive as a country.

By the way with Swine flu, we had 1000 dead before a national emergency was declared and nothing was shut down except for one flight of Chinese trying to get back into China. What changed?!!?

I’m sorry but your facts are simply flawed. There are 4 dead in Nj from the same family and they had little or no underlying health conditions. Obviously people with compromised immune systems are more likely to suffer complications. However, otherwise healthy people are dying as well, that’s a fact. Further, the reason more people died from the flu is because to date more people have had it verse covid virus. But the covid virus carries a higher mortality rate and there are no vaccines or anti virals currently while there are for the flu.

I could go on but you are obviously part of the problem and convincing ignorant people like you is impossible. This is evidenced by the first line of your response
“With little due respect”.

By the way genius, there are 9 dead state wide and almost a thousand cases and that number is increasing radically everyday. There is finally testing and now you will see that number dramatically increase. There are now almost 200 dead nationally so we are almost half way to your WAG of 400-500 for the entire country. It will more likely be 5 to 10 times that number unfortunately.

Additionally, 40% of the patients who have required hospitalization are between the ages of 20-54, so this is not only something that is affecting elderly people.

Finally, it’s reckless behavior by ignorant people like you who are putting the general population and more specifically our health care professionals at greater risk.

How many lives will be lost to suicide do to lost businesses and jobs but then again how many less traffic deaths because not as many cars will be on the road? This could get complicated.

Thank you. This shows there are people with common sense here in the state still.

Meme sums it up.

Just a month ago are now infectious disease experts....”

My nurse has been out sick for several days and has been having problems getting tested. Our residence manager has been out since Sunday and his test is supposed to come back today. We have residents with Down Syndrome who are on Quarantine now along with staff who are doing their best to keep them safe.

Just heard from my brother who intubated an 18 year old today with no previous medical issues. Too bad some people still think it's a joke.

Everyone needs to take this very serious. This is the largest global disaster since WW2. It has the potential to kill as many or more. I believe the only way to get ahead of this thing is thru isolation. If the public will not cooperate we could possibly face Marshal Law to get this under control. It is not the flu
