I've never tried to double within the loop after coming back up but I might just give that a try next time and see if it's just as slim.

Steve & Marc, Uni to Uni is a very strong knot and I've never had one fail either. The only problem is the knot is much bulkier than Albright or Alberto and always gets hung up on the tip especially when loaded.

Yep - that's the problem with the uni to uni. If you have a long top shot and try to cast, it gets hung up in the guides...

If I'm tying at home, I take the time and do a short bimini loop (12-18" long) in the braid and then use a yucatan knot to connect the leader.

If I'm retying on the boat, it depends on the seas. I prefer to do a spider hitch then a yucatan again. If things are rocking, I use an alberto knot.

modified albright or alberto (whatever you want to call it, pretty sure it's the same knot) terminal knot almost always breaks first and it's pretty small with any leader under 30-40# Every time i've tried the FG knot and run it through my fingers a few times to test it's durability, it starts loosening so i refuse to use it.

My personal fav and strongest I know is the Alberto knot....trim the tag end as tight as you can and even give it a dose of super glue that helps with the guide issue.

Good info in here and that knot strength list is interesting. I usually use the Albright knot as it's easier for me to redo on the boat but I'll try some of these out higher up on the strength list.
