he's fishing the wrong spots man, that's all i can say...we are limiting out every trip, we threw back 11 keepers over our limit sunday on the sandy hook reef...plenty of fish around

And you're not going to find any half day boats out of any port that is going to make that trip. It's hard because of the distance.. You'd have at least an hours run each way leaving you 2 hours of a 4 hour trip to actually fish??

Damned if you do and damned if you don't. And even if you do, there's no guarantee you'll have the conditions and the fish.

swimming mullet and a gulp 6" grub mimics the forage fish ocean fluke are eating a lot better than a 3" killie ever will.

And guess what, 9 out of 10 times the keeper fluke ignores the jig and takes the little killie

I catch 95% of my fluke on the bucktail, if your catching more on killies your not jigging .

I think the point is the half day boats don't have the time to run to great numbers on the SH reef, Shrewsbury rocks, or a nice rock pile off the red church. These captans sure have the knowledge of where the great fishing is but unfortunately the ride there and the ride back would leave you with a half hour of fishing. If your looking for more then a 4 hour trip that allows you to get into the deep rough stuff hit a 3/4 day boat, or one of the many great open boat sponsors that specialize in big fish, rough bottom fishing. Then again every year there's a 12 lb fish caught in 14 feet of water on the knoll so it's a crapshoot!!! My pops biggest is 13.6 caught at the tip of the hook at the 13 can on a live snapper while fishing on the Angler, so it's all about putting in your time, adjusting to the conditions, and having the right baits with you!!!
