I have a spare seat in my boat if any veteran of Lake Hopatcong is up for a late night of fishing with a newbie.

Do any of the veteran night guys feel one lake is better suited over the others for a first timer? The Cong, The Monk or Swarts?

Id have to say they are all pretty close some years swartswood is better sometimes its the other way around when hopatcong turns into a zoo like it is now u go to swartswood drop the electric and whack em there! Evrey year is diffrent Less boat pressure and electric only def helps, also nice not gettin waked by a ranger bass boat running at 90 mph in the dark hah its just like scotty said u pretty much gotta go put the time

Or getting mugged by peeps who no speaka engrish... That lit a raging fire under my ass last week. It's one thing to fish 50 yards from someone but if I can hear u farting, burping and heavily mouth breathing you're probably inconsiderately too close to our vessel. Gonna bring a potatoe gun next time and aim for lit up fish finders when guys with zero etiquette get too close when not welcomed. That guy was a jag off!

End rant lol...

The struggle is real. Many of us are walleye vampires. Use at least 20 lb braid and good leader material. Mind your duo lock clips. By catch can straighten it out.

Post pics and tell us where you're fishing.
You guys are great at walleye, but I'll offer my two cents and suggest baiting with live herring in October on the drop-offs 20-45 feet down, and also jigging with Binskys same time of year, same structure. (Have to be sure oxygen is re-established some lakes; early in October, won't be, deepest structure. Test that by putting a herring down, and if it's a sacrifice, don't fish so deep. Also notice how deep fish mark.) For these methods, I used six-pound test herring; 15-pound braid Binsky jigging--you need the feel, but don't use braid setting bait with (steel) egg sinkers, because it gets tangled.
