There out there and that's what counts. Puts them a little closer should an emergency arise. Obey all the safety and fishing rules and there's no worries. I heard about the untagged fish, guess the guy didn't want to use it again at a latter date or didn't want to wait for another one to arrive. Who knows .

FYI - I was boarded by the NYDEC 3 summers ago way out in the monster ledge area ling and cod fishing LOL -- the guys were great they got on they checked our fish, we bsed and they left - we had so many ling the one guy asked if he could have a couple for dinner and for a "new guy" fish ID class so we obliged since they were such good dudes.

They basically told me they were out on a federal assigment that day so they decided to take a little ride from Jones Inlet (!!!) and ran to where they saw the most boats offshore on the radar.

As long as they are respectful of the public and have no chip on their shoulder I have no issue; they have a job to do - I'm the son, nephew, and friend of former and current people in law enforcement and appreciate their work - it's the guys that have a true agenda that ruin it for all.

I did not hear the name of the boat, it is out of Belmar( I think)

As far as that NY F& G boat costing taxpayers a million plus, they ARE out everyday keeping us safe. I would rather see money spent that way then to see Air Force 1 flying around at $150,000 an hour!!

I know of two sponsor PBs that don't even have nets aboard and gaff & release stripers all the time. A post here about one of them disappeared very quickly a few days ago.

Was on the same party boat that was boarded from the original post. The boarding party was from NJ on a NY boat. The warden told us they are working together.

The crew of that party boat is great and the captain is the best on the water. Just have your tags ready to mark short fish.
