Personally this is my second year going for Salmon so I cant really voice my opinion if it is better than years before.

But I do see a common thread from everyone who is complaining about the fishery. Seems like no one wants to put in work and just expects to get hook ups on every single cast. I guess all those years got them soft and they seem to forget that its fishing not catching. It took me 5 trips last year before I ever landed my first one and I know for a fact that we were still catching fresh kings in the middle of November so comments in the article about fish staging later runs might have some point.

But once again my opinion comes from recreational fisherman not as someone who depends on fishery for the living. Times change, runs come and go and either you adapt with changes or you literally go down with the boat. It can not always be like 2012 flood when you could of picked them up fro the fields and parking lots.

This trip, I held two and landed one but main point of the trip was to get away and spend a weekend with guys I rarely get to see (at least until the ice is out) Fish was there in my point of view, just had to work for it. Some people work on it by walking miles and miles trying to find that honey hole. Others get in combat fishing mode and stick it out shoulder to shoulder with others gunning for the same hole. Every year is not going to be the same as last year. How you go about it that's what will determine what kind of year you will have.

No rain in the forecast will put the fishing on the SR in limbo. If that river does get down to 185, 225, salmon fishing is doomed on the SR. It's not looking good out west either as of right now. Hopefully Mother Nature starts cooperating!
