Great advice. Also crawl or roll away from the hole before you stand up. You know the ice is thin where you went in so spread your weight and move away from the area before you stand up. Use a spud bar after the storm on Saturday. I'm fishing a spot today that has 8" of ice, but there is an area about 50 yards across that the birds kept open. That spot froze last night and probably has 1/2" of ice right next to 8". Once the snow covers it you won't be able to see where it was.

wear your life vest if you're unsure so at least if you go through you'll have flotation.
