The quantity and quality of fish out of Barnegat was better this year then ones past, but I think you guys up north have seen better.

Fished out of SRI. have to say overall this season was a disappointment. May and June seem to real slow. Cold water persisted during the time frame. We did catch several squirrel hake, four spots and large ling while bucktailing. July and August seemed a tad better. September was a lot of strong southerly winds. Wound up with only 2 limits during the latter part of August. Biggest was only about 5#. Several fish in the 4# range.
Brightest memory will be winning the private dock tournament, we took 2nd and the calcutta. That was an awesome thrill. Second biggest memory will be catching a nice fish in the 4# range very deep, just over 120'.
Oh well, better luck next year.

I had a good season actually one of my best seasons. I caught my personal best fluke this year at 8lbs. I had many limits this year on the Angler. Last year yeilded a lot more action. This year was all about quality fish. With a 1:2/3 keeper to short ratio. Last year I had 6 trips where I caught 20+ shorts and no keepers. This year I didn't bring home the meat twice.

Had a fairly good year some days lots of shorts some days, 2 or 3 22 to 25 inch fish best day was 11 keepers up to 7.80 lbs.for three guys.

Even got to the weigh station for JCAA tournament with a 4.80lbs fluke

My son and fiance did the best with several 7 fluke days and Michele had her usual 5 and 6 pounders.

Average to Poor - The south wind in July turned the fishing off out of LBI.

This is the year of record fuel cost/keeper fluke

What happened to spending half the summer drifting in front of the Ammo Pier?

Everytime it was either way up the Reach or Ambrose or outside or down the beach.

Here is the synopsis. Many of us don't have the liberty of a lot of time to go out and fish where we want. Also many of us might of not planned right or went just to go when conditions were dispicable. Some might of fished the wrong spots at the wrong time of year, and in sequence equated to a bad season due to the money loss.

Overall, this season was pretty good. I say not for the people individually, but for the season as a whole we saw a good amount of big keepers(3-5Lbders) all over the place,in the bay, in between, and ouside, plus a really nice fish in between 10+lbder. It is a sign that a year or two or three of fish have been managed generally well and that we did not over take and that we took our fair share. In Fluke fishing you always have to pound away at spots to put a catch together. It can concluded though that we would have more keeper size and big fish at all of the spots we fish if there were more around, but there was still a good amount of fish around this year.

Who agrees?

10 pound 7 ounce on the J2 july 8. Won me free fishing for a year. That's better than my average.
