Kenny mentioned that they discussed the extension. Maybe he can fill us in on here with an objective POV on it.

I'd rather get a fish back at 18". The fishing through late sept hasn't been great lately anyway. Keeping it at 17.5" will ensure us never getting it any back. IMO.

It would be nice if they had taken into account the fact that last season we lost most of Sept due to weather and pretty sure we under fished our quota and the fact that, sad to say but, Sandy wiped out a lot of boats and will be less pressure this year.. Im hoping that on May 2nd they open their eyes a little and give us a longer season..

Unfort it doesn't really matter what we think . They will do what they want. I'm just happy we have a season. Someday they may come up with numbers that shut everything down . The kicker is they put us against ourselves. Remember y most of us fish, to make a living and a hobby. So with that being said , fish for the enjoyment that makes u happy . I'd much rather take my sons fishing n keep nothing than have them stay home n play video games. Sorry for the rant, just itching to get back out there

Ya gotta change it up Pete. "It doesn't matter what THEY think WE will do what WE want".

perfect

striper fishing until fluke season starts; don't have to waste time chasing shorts @ buglight and playing bumper boats

while in the past, late september and october have provided good fishing and a nice bridge until blackfish, early september storms have shut the fluke fishing down for the past three years

One point I didn't hear about was any change in retaining 1 legal sized fish for strips - anybody know about that?

You can use a legal sized fluke for strip bait but be sure to keep its rack on board as proof.

Maybe a dumb question.. But does that fish you cut up for bait count towards you limit.. We did this a few times last season.. we picked up a fish that was right on the mark at 17.5 which we would have thrown back since we were looking for the larger ones but the fish in hailed the bait and was hooked so deep we had to TKO the fish trying to remove the hook from its belly... Which i cut into strip bait and threw the rack in the bucket.. We did finish the day with most guys at there limits but few were short a fish or two so it wouldnt be a issue of being over the limit.. But just wanted to know if this happens again and at the end of the trip we have a boat limit and a rack i cut into bait.. Would that be viewed as over our limit or?? Not trying to stir the pot but i was never able to get a clear answer from the FG officer i had spoken to that patrols our dock area..

thanks for any info you may have on this issue Paul!!

clearly goes towards your limit!

IF you gut hook a fish and don't want to kill it.....just cut the line as short as possible and let the hook rust out.
