No, not at all getting into the “there are less fishermen than ever before” thing at all. What I’m asking is when was the last time you’ve seen boats “that you can walk from Sandy Hook to Queens” happen ?

My reply was metaphor of course, not meant to be literal... bob

Not trying to be confrontational at all. What I’m asking is when ya comment about boats being “stacked” from the Hook out east is totally inaccurate

Boat traffic was absurd this past fall during the striper run. That said, fall striper fishing is only about following the birds so blurring out backgrounds doesn’t matter as much.

I had people charter my boat to get my GPS numbers in the spring. I put out the anchor off the Reach Channel and starting chunking. We put a beating on them. The charter asked why i stopped there??? I said because my fish finder lit up with be red dots! Why are they here he asked. I said i don't have a clue but they are migratory and full of spawn and will go up the Hudson to spawn. Next batch of "MIGRATORY" stripers will come from the ocean and stage in Raritan Bay before going up the Hudson also. I have no idea where they will stage but i will find them. For those of you complaining about the boat traffic you live in the best area in the world for stripers and Raritan Bay is the talk of the whole country. So I think you should count your blessings and just go fishing.

No matter where the fleet may be. There are other spots holding fish also. Most times a lot of boats in one area drive the bass down plus dealing with all the boats is no fun! And no I will not be blocking out the background any of my fish pics I'll just take pics of them on my ride home or at the barn!

I think you and any other captain has the right to be REAL pissed off if a customer records your numbers.. I know its a different world these days, and I am really old school/ dark ages, but I would have a real problem with that.. Maybe the captains of for hire boats should let their charters know beforehand that this will not be tolerated, and if it happens the boat would head back instantly, and the offenders would never be allowed back on.. For stripers its not as critical, as they are moving around, north and south, east and west, shallow and deep, staging, feeding, migrating, etc.. However, if a good cap puts his fares on a small but very productive and little known wreck or rockpile, and gets his numbers stolen, thats a big loss... Guy gives the numbers to a few of his buddies, fishes it himself,, and it can be cleaned out in short order... I would not blame any cap for getting pretty pissed at guys recording the good producing numbers he's collected over the years/decades... bob
