Poaching is poaching, weather it be the old lady on the jetty or the commercial boat, it all adds up.
I was told the Saltwater Registry was created to get an ACCURATE count of fish being harvested, well that will never happen. I would be happy to pay for a saltwater license and more law enforcement.

I agree. Poaching is poaching and should be punished. My point is, the penal system we have in the US is kind of retarded. One person steals money or defrauds a bank and they're in jail for 10 years. A bank or an investment firm mismanages/steals/loses millions of dollars from millions of clients, thru their own fault/corruption, and they're given a slap on the wrist and a bailout.

Yeah, punish all poachers. But what we're seeing from the commercial boats are the main problem. Targeting the little guys here and there wont' do crap.

Also, I would not mind one bit paying more taxes if it would better fishery management. But that won't happen. More conservation officers will definitely catch more individual poachers, but overall they won't make a dent in the constant decline of fish. It's simple numbers. Recs(including poachers) don't do 1/10th the damage these reduction boats and trawlers do. We need legislative change, not more enforcement officers.
