completely agree with john D and bcienrie - if the fish were at 1000 fathoms, then why wouldn't they run? i've been to the Wilmington before out of Belmar. that's about 120 miles. The only thing i can think of is that you would have to drift out that deep because no boat has enough anchor line in 1000 fathoms.

A non sponsor boat who is good and tuna fishes all the time, purchased their boat from someone in Barnegat - The boat in Barnegat was in business for years and because of Sandy (how it changed the inshore fishing down there), regulation changes, AND the LACK of tuna, they called it quits and sold the boat. His wife (mrs. eble) personally told me so a handful of years back.

Let's see how the other boats do. Also interesting no one has heard a peep in a few months from a very good 6 pack outfit - Canyon Runner.

You should see the amount of tuna tackle being sold on-line, staggering.

When was the last time you saw an eddy ( a nice big fat ball of organge/red) roll West from Hydrographers canyon and slide down the 100 line?

That was the last time we had classic fall tuna fishing and yes, it has been that long. It’s not a commercial overfishing issue, it’s just the way the Gulf Stream has run for over 5 years now.

Yeah, that's probably me. Stay tuned because I might be having a fire sale after my trip next week.
