The fall trout specifically seem to be able to seek out the deep waters that stay cool enough & are oxenigated by natural features in the river that churn up the waters. Little to no pressured areas of course seem to be key as well.

The so called non-trout water sections of trout streams are sometimes the best places to seek them out. Low pressure and low competition from other trout often allow the hearty to grow large. They are good at finding thermal refuge (think deep water with springs).

How's the smallmouth fishing in the mainstem RR?
