Stocks are rebuilt right? Shouldn't the season be longer????????

Not to many private boats in water and or fishable days in Feb anyway. Plus who cares, nobody listens to us anyway.

Yes you’d think since they reported the stocks to be at an all time high and fully rebuilt, they’d throw us a bone and let us have some extra days in Feb plus what we had last year... Although it could eventually work out that way, there is no way of knowing since they don t have all the landing data for this year yet. So, do you roll the dice and open it up in Feb and risk having to take days away in the Spring or do you not risk it.

The MRIP numbers they use to estimate recreational landings are all over the place and most everyone aggrees are suspect or even unbelievable. Until those methods are changed it’s what we’re stuck with...

Thumbs down Re: Sea Bass in Feb??

I don't care how big of boat you have...February is a very tough month for ocean fishing. And that time of the year you would have to fish offshore...so even if your boat is in the water how many trips can you really make?

Will the last person to leave please turn off the lights...

And the story goes...worse and worse every year.

Unreal

They should of considered extended it for January like they did a few years back. February you'll be lucky if you get 5 days in... What a joke...

Angry Re: Sea Bass in Feb??

Just another Bullshit ploy to keep every-one against one another!

For Christ sake, the few guys who depend on this fishery....just let them Fish!
These guys have been doing it for years, spend hundreds of thousands of dollars with new boats, new technology, it doesn't make a pimple on a ducks ass what they are taking!

Now, to penalize the rest of the sector is total Bullshit!
The numbers are there, so why should everyone else who has taken the KY all these years get screwed out of days?
I lost an extra 12 days of the Fluke season due to Weather, on top of the cut of 24 days ....I didn't get a Do-over or a couple days added to my season to pay some bills when the fishing was excellent. But, I was FORCED to quit!!!

They stop me a week before the end of Fluke season from keeping Sea Bass, which could have keep customers coming to my boat, while they were the second most abundant fish in the ocean....Porgies took top honors there.

Who has our back folks? After 40 years, I'm finally getting tiered of it, (exactly what they want) problem is, not enough people in this industry have a voice any more. Frank Pallone finally made me realize it's all a Frigging Bullshit game.....Tell them what they want to hear, throw up a bill or two and when everything else fails, blame it on someone else.. Politics, that's what it comes down too, and ALL of those people suck!

Yes, I'm one Pissed off Captain!!
