FWIW the 200 HPDI is one of Yamaha's best engines, the HPDI problems were on the big block motors and the values on boats with 250 or 300 HPDI's reflect that the reality is any boat with a 2 stroke by any manufacturer will be selling for less then one with a 4 stroke, it's what the buying public wants. The 200 and 150 small blocks are very good motors but they are very fuel sensitive and require clean fuel and frequent filter changes. The ETEC is also a very good choice but you will need to replace all your rigging, possibly staying with Yamaha some of your current rigging can transfer over.

Etec...!

I have owned 6 Mercs, 1 Yamaha, 4 Johnsons and 1 Etec.

My 30HP Etec is the quietest most fuel efficient motor that I have owned by far.

With all data collected the Etech wins hands down.

Going to start an engine fund and pamper the 20 year old yami for as long as she gets me back safely.

Couple more weeks...THANK GOD! This winter was bull shite!
