what would be the best way to get those tiny worms from the cod? i understand they are harmless...just bug me out a little...has anyone noticed them being more prevelant in the tail section of the fillet or is that just because you can see them better cause its thinner? i fished up in mass. a bunch in early 90's and don't recall finding so many

When i worked in the fish market we would just hold the fillet up to the lite , take a tweeser or knife and pluck em out.

Yep...thats the best way. Hold the fillet to the light to spot them, take a very thin knife, small cut, then gentle flick.

when i got home i washed the fillets and put them in the frig on a bakers rack inside a big pyrex dish it was late i was going to pack them when i got up in morning.i pulled out dish and there was about 10 that were laying in the bottom of the dish. this is something that i normally dont do but i will try it next time. no worms in fish that was cooked yet .

I wold not recamend cleaning your fish in fresh water until you intend on cooking it. I've been holding them up and plucking em out latly, but for many years I did not even know they were their. It kinda bugs me out too, I feel obligated to tell the people I give fish away to that they in fact have worms. The result has been I have a lot less people to give cod to! Good thing the fishing is not what it used to be, I'd have a hundered pounds of filet in my freezer aper trip!!
