![]() It has been my experience that nothing beats fresh mackerel for tilefish bait. Bluefish is also great, as is fresh squid. Make sure you bring along mackerel rigs and squid jigs in case they show up under the lights.

![]() Planning on hitting the inlet before the trip to try to put something fresh for bait on ice!! I will have plenty of squid and sibiki jigs also. In all my years have never ran into mackeral or herring on an offshore trip!!! Thanks for the tip on the tile bait!!!

Based on my trip last week definitely bring a light spinning rod and squid jigs, plus a livewell/bucket with aerator if you can. Live squid were definitely the hot bait. Plus my friend took home 4 dozen fresh calamari to eat. |
