If you can't stay off the beds for what probably amounts to 2 weeks, take up another sport instead of ruining it for everyone else and the fishery. And the biggest problem are tournament elites who run tournaments right during the spawn for that exact reason, they should be eliminated during spawning months. It's all about money and everyone else has to pick up the tab for your greed.
I agree and beyond harassing already stressed out fish during spawn, I find it incredibly unsportsmanlike behavior. I know guys will say there's an art to it, that it takes skill to hook a big experienced female off beds to me it's not fishing at all - they are nest guarding, not feeding.

You should see some of the tournaments won off livescoping bed fish down south. It's really quite gross how things are going in this sport.

I stay away from freshwater even in post spawn, bc then you're catching fish with 8 holes in its head, and I hate to see it. I'm pretty sure PA bans sight fishing during spawn, NJ has even more reason to do so with our small lakes and huge angling population.
