Far Hills:
Far Hills: If there was ever a dam I could take a stick of dynamite to it would be Ravine Lake. I guess it's there so the trillionaires have a place to dip their toes in the water. Wonder if this stretch ever held native Brook Trout before it was dammed and turned into a carp cesspool ? Warms up the North branch at the Headwaters, not good !!

Re: Far Hills:
I agree with you 100%. Used to fish Natitar when it was Ladd estate, fun Smallmouth. Caught my personal best Smallmouth, 4+ lbs. at the base of that dam, 60 years ago.

Re: Far Hills:
Upstream past ravine lake is beautiful. The upper north branch is awesome just not very accessible. next time youre there travel north like around Union School house road. it's stunning there you think you are in the Poconos lol.
McVickers Brook Preserve has a very tiny trib to the NB there which i wanted to check out one day. Overall the headwaters of the NB have plenty of wild browns, some wild brookies that i havent really gotten into yet. I can only imagine how lush the lower NB would be with this fishery being connected. But for now the lower NB is a killer SMB fishery so.. im still happy |
