Went carping in 76 degree Carnegie Lake this evening on a warm, sunny day with a light south wind after a rain storm. Saw corn 🌽 in my primary spot. Threw out a can of corn for chum, then caught and released a yellow perch with a chartreuse 1/32 oz Big Eye jig and 1” chartreuse twister tail on 2 lb test line. Then landed an 11 lb milt leaking male common carp with ShopRite canned whole kernel corn 🌽 and brother John’s very old Shakespeare Alpha 50 spinning reel with no anti reverse. The carp made a very long run and I kept adjusting the drag because it was sticking. I was very fortunate that the line didn’t break. I like to back reel on big fish 🎣. Stopped ultralight jigging and fishing with corn, then caught and released three bluegills with my homemade corn meal bait on a #8 red treble hook and 12 lb test line. Gave the carp to Pablo from Ecuador. Caught 29 carp this year. Mosquitoes 🦟 were still biting.
