Lake Lefferts in Matawan
With the trout stocked lakes/rivers closed I have been trying a few local spots. I heard Lake Lefferts in Matawan was supposed to have pretty good bass and pickerel. I fished from the shoreline a few times. I tried throwing spinners, white grubs, rattle traps, and rubber worms but have not had any luck. Does anybody have any lure suggestions that may work better for this spot.

Re: Lake Lefferts in Matawan
Go small. Try an 1/16- 1/8 ounce jighead with a white mister twister. Add a float 18-24 inches above the jig. Reel in slow and twitch once in a while. All fish will hit this set up.

Re: Lake Lefferts in Matawan
it gets hammered, a lot of kids and families try fishing there all summer. Ive seen people kayak fish it from the restaurant view. The whole time i wouldnt see anyone catch fish.
I would go there to catch sunfish and just once a pickerel over 10 inches. |
