Opening day first cast 23 pounder
Went carping in 64 degree Robert G Martin Lake this evening before a severe storm. Air temp was 72 degrees. There was a gale watch for the strong south wind. It was opening day of the snapping turtle 🐢 season. Lots of crows were nearby. Canada geese and double crested cormorants were flying. Threw out a can of corn for chum, then caught a 23 lb snapping turtle 🐢 on my first cast of the day. It cut my left hand. Took pics. Landed 3 brown bullheads. Took them to the Ukrainian National Home. Quit early as the storm approached. Drove through hail, high winds, lightning and torrential downpours. Had a power outage at my apartment. Didn’t catch a carp for the first time in the last 4 days. Looks like a 23 lb snapper chases away the carp. The lake is still flooded. My spot may be underwater tomorrow. It was underwater until June last year.
