Canned corn bait
Went ultralight fishing in the 62 degree Millstone River on the north shore in Plainsboro, NJ, this evening on a cold, cloudy day with a light southeast wind. Threw out a can of corn for chum, then caught 22” 5.5 lb, 15” 3 lb, 14” 3 lb, 29” 14.75 lb and 23” 8.5 lb common carp and caught and released a 14” brown bullhead with whole kernel canned corn on a #8 gold hook and 4 lb test line. Gave the carp to 4 different people. A big carp broke my line and stole my hook on my first cast of the day. Lots of fish were jumping. Didn’t see anyone catch anything. Saw Canada geese, double crested cormorants, crows, osprey, robins, common grackles and doves nearby. Took lots of pics.

Re: Canned corn bait
Nice report, didn't know the Millstone had warmed up that much.
That's a heck of a fight on ultra light!

Re: Canned corn bait
Bands, corn is good bait but I don't think that chumming is legal in fresh water. Carp are some of the toughest fish to catch on ultra lite tackle. Ghetto Bonefish can spool you! Got spooled at Colonial Lake by the Bowling alley. Couldn't keep up with all the shore brush and there's no turning a big fish on 4 pound.
