Fished round valley today, 1-12-22. Bite was good too, caught lots of trout. Headed out for hour drive without any info on ice situation but when I got there glad to see there was no ice in site. Made it up to 39 degrees, party sunny, light to no wind wound up to be a beautiful day. Checked out spruce run and it was completely locked up. Didn't check how thick it was though.

Luckily for you the Valley rarely freezes over completely, and with the wind we've had I'm not surprised it was wide open. Good job with the trout! Did you troll em up?

I was at Spruce Run yesterday. It was glazed over almost everywhere. It was about an inch thick at the boat dock. There was one brave guy in a 17 foot that launched and went out. I was interesting to watch. About a third of the hull would get up on the ice and then break through. I remember the days when I would do that. When the cove would freeze at Round Valley, I would bring a dozen big rocks and break my way out to open water. I always saved a few rocks for the return back to the dock.

I'll bust the boat through ice during the purgatory time, but once i have 2.5 inches of ice on the shallow lakes i'm ice fishing haha
