Freshwater Fisheries Forum January 18 at Hackettstown State Fish Hatchery
https://www.njfishandwildlife.com/ne...ce=govdelivery
" A public forum to discuss freshwater fisheries research, management and recreational angling in New Jersey will be held on Saturday, January 18 at the Hackettstown State Fish Hatchery in Warren County. The forum will begin at 10:00 a.m. A second forum will be held February 22 at Batsto Village in Wharton State Forest. The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife holds forums to improve communication with the angling public and to solicit public input in shaping freshwater fisheries programs in the future. The forums are a perfect opportunity for all freshwater anglers to learn about existing programs and to share their views and recommendations. This year's topics include this year Harmful Algal Blooms and Fish Health. Discussion topics include: Warmwater Fisheries Management Plan (what do anglers want to see covered in the plan) and Potential Regulation Changes for 2023 - so anglers should bring their ideas on both these topics. As always, there will be ample time for open discussion with professional staff to answer any questions or address concerns of anglers during the extended question and answer period. There is also time for one on one discussions with Division fisheries biologists following the meeting. Come and be an integral part in the development of future programs and regulations related to New Jersey's freshwater fisheries resources. " Who's going ? Even if you dont have any furious compliants, it's an interesting meeting and a good way to spend the morning. Consider fishing the trout streams after when the day warms up. |

It's really sad when only 20 people show up.

Ain't that the truth Andy! All the guys who always seem to have something to bitch about here and on other forums sure seem to always have something better to do when the opportunity to actually be heard and possibly initiate change arises.
It's not like this annual forum is some big secret. Nor is it announced suddenly with short notice. |

Re: Freshwater Fisheries Forum January 18 at Hackettstown State Fish Hatchery
I did go up on Saturday. Decent turn out, probably 40 people in attendance . Fish health was covered by fish pathologist Jan Lovy. Great presentation covering some carp and bass issues, fish kills and sick and diseased fish. He suggested not to release sick looking fish, get them to him at the Pequest Hatchery or email him some pics with location of capture at a minimum. Also to report any fish kills as well.
Jan.lovy@dep.nj.gov Next up was Lisa Barno with an informative talk on the recent HAB issues and their causes, Tyler Tresslar from the Hacketstown Hatchery closed with recent projects and accomplishments for the year 2019 at the hatchery. He had a nice presentation highlighted with fish pics, a lot of members here made it onto the screen. Started snowing heavy around noon and I split. |
