Default Vacation at Beach Pond, CT

My girlfriend and a group of our friends rented a cabin up in Voluntown, CT right on beach Pond, so you know I had to pack some rods in the car. Got there super late Friday night, so started fishing Saturday morning at 7:30. The property we stayed on had a private beach and 4 docks, so I fished all around them and caught nothing. After going back to the cabin for breakfast around 9, I took the kayak out and searched for fish for 4 hours. Tons of awesome structure in this lake, and I thought I was going to be catching, but I ended up paddling back empty handed.

After eating again I decided to try again from shore around sunset. The water was glassy flat and I noticed on one side of the beach there was a boulder field with some small sunfish hanging around. Caught 1 bluegill to shake the skunk and then I started seeing some bass hanging around. Ended up with 5 small bass! One was a bit more decent but nothing crazy. Super healthy fish though, vibrant colors and good shape on them.

Sunday the temps dropped and it poured all day. I tried for an hour here and there throughout the day but nada. Mostly enjoyed the cabin and sauna on the property.

It was a great trip though! I’d love to go back sometime. I heard there are a lot of trout in there from some of the locals but I didn’t see any signs of them. Would love to go back with a bigger vessel! Very cool area.

Tight lines all!
