Thumbs up Raritan river 10/26/18:

Hit the Somerville stretch at Peters Brook Greenway but found no love. Moved down and hit the Torpey stretch in Bridgewater dead. Out of desperation went to the North Branch at Rt. 202, still nothing. Went to the confluence, quickly going from a hero to a zero. Back to where I got them the other day, scored this oinker as I was getting ready to leave, beat the skunk. Love fishing that big chest deep water of the Raritan river. Upcoming rains should shuffle the deck.

Nice way to beat the skunk

Upcoming rains will clear some of the vegetation on the banks, hope we get another good rain after the leaves are all gone.

I'm ready for the steelhead from Raritan bay swim up with these rains and dropping temps

It was nice the Rahway river got a 4 mile extension on spring stocking, while I'm over here on the Raritan going say what !
Nice that they PACK the NO KILL Ken Lockwood Gorge with trout every spring and fall. NO KILL=NO TROUT.

Geeze Andy, if I didn't know better I'd swear you were trying to push some agenda here.
Really though, you know I very much agree with you that the upper mainstem Raritan should be on the fall stock list. There has been way more than enough evidence that the river can support the fish, same with proof of angler participation/utilization of that river section, and certainly enough support among the angling community for inclusion on the fall list.

Maybe we should make the upper Raritan river a "NO Kill" stretch. If that were to happen we would get spring AND fall stocked trout, much like the KLG.

lol

I grabbed another today from a new spot. Same hole hook up with another but he comes loose, luckily was able to see the fish at least.

Also I would like to bring attention to what are these redd looking things all over the shallows. I remember them last year. Some of these lil clear out sections have quit a nice depression to them.
