Re: Sea bass Friday night
Myself and Matt Conway are on the gambler tonight as well. Looking forward to freezing to death at the rail. The gambler is a big, clean boat with a solid crew and captain. Fished with them a few times and have nothing but good things to say

Re: Sea bass Friday night
A phone call won't hurt anything but looking at the wind forecast I can't imagine the gambler remaining tied to the dock. Aside from the predicted artic temperatures and possibility of snow.....looks like it's gonna be a beautiful trip

Re: Sea bass Friday night
I'm scheduled for tonight's trip as well.
Still on the fence if I'm going to go. It's going to be COLD! The Gambler is an awesome boat, great Captain and crew, super accommodations as well. I have been on their offshore sea bass trips in the past and have always caught well. I may see you tonight. |

Re: Sea bass Friday night
Gambler is a great boat with an excellent crew. Get some nitrile gloves as a waterproof liner for your gloves and some heat packs, you will be fine. Wool will keep you warm even when wet, layer your cloathing and have a wicking base layer. Get a good head cover, not a baseball cap. Hugging the coffee pot will warm you up.

Re: Sea bass Friday night
Guys, I was just out on a NS from PP on Wednesday and we did great. Keep in mind it is not as cold out there as it is here. You are fishing closer to the gulf stream and the warmer water keeps the air warmer than inshore. Catch em up! The Gambler is a first class operation!

Re: Sea bass Friday night
Also, the guy next to me was killing the sea bass using a 5 oz gold hammered jig. No need to get all mucked up in clams and a lot more fun when they hit the jig. Key was to throw it as far away from the boat as possible and once it hits bottom (if it didn't get smacked) slowly retrieve it about 20 feet and then drop it back down. Most times they hit on the drop.
