Wawayanda Advice
Hey all,
I'm considering going up to Wawayanda state park early next week for some fishing. I know there are salmon there, and while it'd be cool to catch one, but I'm not specifically targeting them. I just want to go there cause I need some scenery and relaxation! That being said, I do want to catch fish as well. Anyone have any tips or good places to fish up there? PMs are welcome, not trying to spot burn anyone. Tight lines to all! |

Re: Wawayanda Advice
Never been there, but my buddies call it Weedweanda because it seems to weed over quite a bit in the summer.

Re: Wawayanda Advice
the ramp area is shallow and weeded up good, water clarity was good . when ya get in front of the beach and all the way to the middle islands its get deep and has some straight vertical drops. same after the islands in the middle. from the launch and up the left shore line is pretty shallow and weeded. good topo maps are available at franks tackle or im sure ya can find some online. if your salmon fishing you pretty much narrowed it down the the deep sections right down the middle of the lake in front of the beech. I think the deepest part is down lake past the middle islands.

Re: Wawayanda Advice
You have a good shot at getting that pickerel there. Place is loaded with weeds and the weeds are loaded with pickerel, some nice bass too. Work the weedlines for pickerel, live bait (herring) on a slip bobber in the deep spots for the salmon.
If you're fishing from land, beware of bears on the shoreline. I'd fish the cove to the left of the ramp from land. |
