I thought the ones that spin prevented that? The ones that don't spin def do that though.

Even the ones that spin can do that if you don't support the fishes weight. I use bogas to land my muskies and never had a problem and can prove it with pictures of the same fish caught year after year by myself and other anglers using bogas. The key is to support their weight with a second hand

I used to use them on Pike until I realized they actually freak out more on the boga than if you are holding them by the gill plate. Now it's in the bottom of my Clam for pulling toothy critters through the ice.
