Exclamation Greenwood Lake:

Officers worked on complaints of an individual selling freshwater fish fresh out of Greenwood lake on the internet. Officers did a buy-bust operation where they were able to make contact with the individual and charged him with a case of commercialization of wildlife. The individual had ten fish, pickerel, largemouth bass and eel for $60 all caught out of New Jersey waterways - the individual was charged accordingly. This is the type of activity the officers can get involved in when they are not involved with the activities on the Wildlife Management Areas.

Good job CO's!

I love hearing stories like this. I wish the New Jersey Conservation Officers' Association would update the 'highlights' section of their webpage so i can read more about the busts they make.

It doesn't surprise me that they are catching people selling freshwater fish. Some "sportsmen" go on such excessive killing sprees on the water, it stands to reason some will try to sell the fish.

I have to just shake my head when I see guys loading bags-and-bags of ice up in an enormous cooler before launching their boats on a freshwater lake or river. They're not on a party boat and this isn't the ocean.

The Corrado's Market in Wayne occasionally has Walleye sold as "Locally Caught Blue Pike". Wonder where that is coming from..

Maybe a call to NJF&G can alert them to that fact and the CO's can make a purchase and check the proprietor's records to see where he purchased them from. If you know or suspect they're buying fish illegally, place a call and let the powers to be take it from there.
