2008 yamaha 225 4 stroke alarm
put the boat in the water this year (has been sitting for a season) every once in a while the alarm goes off I put it in nuteral and rev it and sometimes it goes away. other times I shut it down and start it back up and it stops.
this is bothering me because the channel has been extreaml low and i thought that it could be from crap but it has happen twice at ideal in the ocean I had the water impeller changed about 40 hours ago. any ideas would be apreciated. |

Re: 2008 yamaha 225 4 stroke alarm
2 things usually cause alarms either low oil pressure or high engine temps. If it were caused by low old pressure I'd be worried, but when you say it stops when you rev it up it seems more like an engine temp alarm. If you take it to an authorized dealer they will be able to let you know what code was logged and you can go from there. 40 hours is not a lot of time on an impleller so maybe you have a sticky thermostat or something restricting the water flow to the engine??
