![]() I headed up to a section of river in Hunterdon County this morning to do some more fly fishing. The water was clear in some spots and a little cloudy in others. Cold too. Like, I was shivering cold. Which is great for trout in June.
Anyway, I ended up landing a really nice sized trout. It leapt into the air three times which was cool and fought like crazy. Come to realize when I netted it, it was foul hooked right in the side. How that happened is beyond me. I wasn't using a tandem rig, it was just one nymph. I tried to hold her up for a pic, but she slipped right out of my hands. ![]() Nice video! As far as foul hooking goes, I've heard from some experienced fly fishermen it can happen if you don't set the hook in time. Trout can spit out a fly very quickly. Even the best fly anglers miss plenty of hooksets.
