Default Ohio

The wife wanted one last road trip out to Ohio before her sister's family moves to PA, so we did a long weekend around the 4th of July holiday. Unfortunately, my dream of Lake Erie walleye fishing did not come to fruition. But on the plus side, I was able to get our 3 (about to be 4) year old nephew on some serious sunfish action! He caught his 1st fish ever, followed by many more and had a blast. That, I wouldn't have traded for anything. I also got my redemption on the Cuyahoga River and then it took some revenge on me...

2 years ago I fished the Cuyahoga River while visiting them and came up empty handed, didn't even have a follow. This time, on a different stretch of the same river, I nailed a giant smallie on a crankbait. I ended up with 2 more smallies and a perch. Other fishermen and people walking the trail were surprised when I told them I caught one smallie (all of the fisherman were throwing big for pike and nobody else had caught anything). I was so pumped, until when I was setting up at a new spot I was texting and stumbled and dropped the phone into the Cuyahoga! DOH!!!! This was a deep hole, but I was able to drop down and grab it before it sank out of reach. My quick reflexes shocked me! It's been glitching off and on since then, when it was on I transferred the pic of the smallie. All of the fishing that I do, and that is the first time I've ever submerged a phone. Aside from the phone deal, the final trip to Ohio was a great one!

Very nice. A close friend of mine just moved to Ohio. His local river has Pike and Saugeye, so I'm already planning a trip out to "visit him" lol.

Very cool, Skunk. After the mountains in PA, though, it's a loooong boring trip on route 80. Watch out for deer (we saw 3 dozen on our way out, but only 1 big one on our way back).

Thanks, Andy! Phone is shot, but I'm well past my 2-year, so I was about due for a new one. The other in-law is in the Navy and stationed in Virginia Beach, so I'm hoping to add to my "travelling reports" soon
